Center for Information Science

The Center for Information Science was established in 1985 as the first cross-disciplinary research center at Peking University. In 2002, the first undergraduate major of “Intelligence Science” in China was founded upon this center. It has been a main unit of the Key Laboratory of Machine Perception (Ministry of Education) since 2007.

Now the center has 30 faculty members with 15 professors and 14 associate professors, and three engineers. Among the faculty members, there are one member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, one Chang Jiang Scholars, and one winner of NSFC Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and two winners of NSFC Fund for excellent Young Scholars.

Center for Information Science dedicates efforts in the core research fields of machine intelligence, explore mechanisms of visual and auditory perception, and to realize highly-intelligent application systems.
