Song, Lingyang received his PhD from the University of York, UK, in 2007, where he received the K. M. Stott Prize for excellent research. He worked as a research fellow at the University of Oslo, Norway until rejoining Philips Research UK in March 2008. In May 2009, he joined the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University, China, as a full professor. His main research interests include MIMO, cognitive and cooperative communications, security, and big data.
Dr. Song is co-inventor of a number of patents (standard contributions), and author or co-author of over 100 journal and conference papers. He wrote 2 text books, “Wireless Device-to-Device Communications and Networks” and “Full-Duplex Communications and Networks,” published by Cambridge University Press, UK, and is the co-editor of two other books, “Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)-Fundamentals and Applications” and “Evolved Network Planning and Optimization for UMTS and LTE”(IEEE ComSoc Best Readings), published by Auerbach Publications, CRC Press, USA.
Dr. Song is the recipient of IEEE Leonard G. Abraham Prize in 2016 and IEEE Asia Pacific (AP) Young Researcher Award in 2012, and received 8 best paper awards, and received 9 best paper awards and 1 best demo award, including the best paper award in IEEE International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing (WCNM 2007), the best paper award in the First IEEE International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC 2012), the best paper award in IEEE International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP 2012), the best paper award in IEEE Wireless Communication and Networking Conference (WCNC 2012), the best student paper award in the 7th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (ChinaCom 2012), the best paper award in IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC 2014), the best paper award in IEEE Global Communication Conference (Globecom 2014), the best paper award in IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC 2015), and the best demo award in the ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing (Mobihoc 2015).
Dr. Song is currently on the Editorial Board of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and China Communications. He served as the TPC co-chairs for the International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks (ICUFN 2011, 2012) and registration co-chair for the 1st IEEE International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC 2012). He served as symposium co-chairs for International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC 2009, 2010), IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology (ICCT 2011), IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC 2014, 2016), IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC 2016 spring), and IEEE Global Communication Conference (Globecom 2016). He is a senior member of IEEE, and an IEEE distinguished lecturer since 2015.
